Mohr’s Circle Notes

Posted on July 26, 2021 by Abigail Stason

Go to http://engineeringregistration.tamu.edu/videos/305-flipped/FlippedMohrsCircle.mp4  and watch the solution to the problem shown using Mohr’s Circle.  The problem is as follows: knowing the normal and shear stresses on an element, determine the principal stresses in the element.

Mohr’s Circle is a graphical solution to the stress transformation equations for determining stresses at a point on any plane, maximum principal normal and shearing stresses, and principal stresses in 3 dimensions.  We will cover the equations next class, and cover this flipped material during the class after that.  Be ready to discuss and ask questions over the material at that time.
