Solve for the maximum vertical reaction on one of the center footings of an eight story tall, 5 bay building. Use steel W12x53’s for all members. Columns are all 35 feet apart, and all stories are 20 feet high. Loads are to be 2 k/ft uniform loading placed on those beams which will cause the maximum reaction on one of the two center footings.
Determine which beams to load by making MASTAN give you the influence line for the reaction sought, and solve for that reaction.
